Ways to Eliminate Writer's Block

Updated: Mar 4, 2021

Writer's block is a period of creative slowdown that authors, poets and other writers may experience.

Writer's block happens to the best of us and it doesn't have anything to do with your skills. It can come randomly and last a long time, so I will be sharing some solutions that helped me when I experienced it.

1. Travel/ Move around

In a year long pandemic it's risky to travel too far or course so when I say travel, it could be from your bedroom to the living room. Just keep moving around and or exercising to get your juices flowing!

2. Spend time with loved ones

3. Challenge yourself with writing prompts

4. Write in a journal

Write about your experiences, funny stories, about people or events that impacted your life in a positive way.

5. Read a book and rewrite it using your imagination

6. Write, brainstorm until sentences start forming

Write, write, write. You can write the most random things that come to mind and flip it into a full blown story later!

7. Check out these sites for writing prompts:

8. Go outside and indulge yourself in nature

9. Listen to music that's similar to your theme

Pick out theme songs for your book, script, characters, poem, etc.

Wishing you great luck in writing and furthering your career or hobby!
