Love your hair: Texturism and hair discrimination

Affirmations to remind you that you are beautiful and that your hair is yours for a reason.


Your hair, whether defined or undefined, curly, coily, straight or wavy, short or long, covered or uncovered is beautiful. You don't need to do anything to prove anything to anyone. Any job or school that punishes you or someone you know is in the wrong. All hair textures are beautiful and unique. Your natural hair doesn't need to be fixed or changed. Less than 11 states have approved of protection from natural hair discrimination in the workplace and in schools (Crown Act). Sign petitions!


Slowly, natural hair is being shown more in the media. Not every texture gets the same appreciation but all are gorgeous. Be careful (especially type 4 hair people) what products you put into your hair as some may make it look good but be bad in the long run. Your hair may not be able to do everything you want it to do but that doesn't mean something need to be changed. You don't need to gel or perm or define or straighten your hair for it to be beautiful.
